Data on Falls, Strategies to Prevent Them Are Focus of Sept. 25 Web Seminar

“Your Falls Data and Strategies: Learn a New Pearl from your Peers” is the topic of a web seminar Sept. 25, from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. (PT), offered by the California Hospital Patient Safety Organization (CHPSO) and ECRI Institute. Participants will learn about member-reported fall demographics, common contributing factors, and root cause analysis action plans, as well as methods to implement more effective plans and falls prevention strategies. All data will be de-identified. CHPSO encourages attendees to participate in the polling questions and discussion at the end of the web seminar to share challenges and success stories. Recommended attendees include nurse managers, falls team members, risk managers, patient safety and quality directors and department heads. The seminar is open to CHPSO members. Membership is complimentary for members of CHA and the Regional Hospital Associations. CHPSO has contracted with ECRI Institute to support confidential patient safety data collection and analysis. Through this contract, and CHPSO’s relationships with other PSOs, members have access to the combined incident experience and lessons learned of many hospitals throughout the country.

This web seminar has been approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for one contact hour, provider number CEP 13677. Full attendance, completion of a survey, and attestation of attendance is required to receive continuing education credit. Facilities with multiple participants must designate a site coordinator who will register for the call and document attendance. Individual participants act as their own site coordinator and register for themselves.
