Covered California Releases Fourth Draft of Qualified Health Plan Model Contract
Changes reflect CHA and member comments

On April 19, Covered California released the fourth version of its qualified health plan model contract, scheduled for approval at tomorrow’s Board of Directors meeting in Sacramento. In the latest version, Covered California has addressed many of the issues CHA outlined in an April 15 comment letter to the second draft of the model contract. CHA’s April 15 comments were developed with feedback from members, including those who serve on the Managed Care Committee. Substantial changes in the current draft model contract include omitting: 1) the requirement that plans disclose contracts and terms; 2) the requirement that plans agree to comply with the Administrative Manual, which has yet to be developed; and 3) attachment section 7.07, “Provider Competition and Standardized Reimbursement.”
