Covered California to Host Community Outreach Network Webinar
Session will highlight ways to participate in Community Outreach Network

Covered California will host a Community Outreach Network webinar on Aug. 15 from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. (PT)  to provide an overview of the network, ways to target uninsured individuals and small businesses, the role of partnering organizations and resources available through Covered California. Covered California invites all interested stakeholders and community-based organizations to join the statewide Community Outreach Network. To register for the webinar, visit https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/3914324418919732480.

The Community Outreach Network is comprised of non-compensated local organizations and stakeholders who will partner with Covered California to raise public awareness about the new health insurance marketplace. The network will support enrollment activities under Covered California’s Outreach and Education Grant Program through multiple partnership events, regional meetings, webinars, conferences, social media and public relations efforts. Organizations in the network will play a key role in helping Covered California reach target populations where they work, live, shop and play.

A component of Covered California’s Community Outreach Network is the Covered California Certified Enrollment Assistance program, which will be implemented statewide this summer. Enrollment assistance organizations will build a “culture of coverage” to help millions of Californians enroll in affordable health insurance. The certified enrollment entities’ employees and volunteers will undergo background checks and be fingerprinted, as well as trained and certified by Covered California, to ensure they are equipped with expertise and information to successfully help consumers enroll in health coverage. Known as Certified Enrollment Counselors, they will:

  • Engage organizations to help consumers learn about, navigate and apply for health insurance plans offered by Covered California qualified health plans.
  • Motivate consumers to take steps to enroll into Covered California.
  • Provide one-on-one, in-person assistance to help California’s diverse populations learn about their coverage options in culturally and linguistically appropriate ways.
  • Help Covered California connect with millions of uninsured Californians.

Covered California is recruiting entities and organizations that serve Covered California target populations to apply as certified enrollment entities. Interested organizations should complete the Certified Enrollment Entity Interest Form.
