Continuing Medical Education Courses on Clozapine Now Available

New on-demand continuing medical education courses are now available for physicians, clinicians, and other practitioners who are considering using clozapine with individuals who experience psychotic symptoms. The one-hour course — available through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Recovery to Practice Program — is intended to help participants better understand the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s guidelines, who might benefit from clozapine, the medication’s risks and benefits and how to engage in shared decision-making about using it. The agency is also offering a two-course series on clinical decision support, information and resources for practitioners who serve individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
