Consent Law Manual Updated for 2012
Seminars Begin Today

CHA’s Consent Manual has been updated to reflect all changes in state and federal consent law through January 2012. One complimentary copy of the popular manual will be sent to each member hospital and system CEO later this week.

The nearly 1,000-page Consent Manual is the most acclaimed resource available to hospitals on patient consent for medical treatment and related health care law. Important revisions include an amendment to patient rights laws and an updated Patient Rights poster, clarification regarding which outpatients need to be informed about advance directives, revised requirements for obtaining consent to telehealth services and a new requirement for electronic health record systems. The model Conditions of Admission form and many other CHA forms were also updated.

Edited by CHA’s Lois Richardson, Esq., vice president, privacy and legal publications, the manual includes legal citations, an index of key terms, and a CD containing sample forms, posters and appendixes. Many of the forms and posters also are available free on the CHA website at www.calhospital.org/free-resources.

CHA is offering a series of six Consent Law seminars throughout California: April 17 in San Diego, April 18 in Ontario, April 26 in Irvine, May 8 in San Ramon, May 9 in Sacramento and May 22 in Universal City. Complete program and registration information can be found at www.calhospital.org/consent-law.
