CMS Updates Preventive Services RHC Payment Policy

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated its payment policy for preventive services provided in rural health clinics (RHC). A reversal from an earlier determination that certain preventive services provided in RHCs were not billable if provided as “stand-alone” services, the updated policy will ensure that Medicare beneficiaries receiving care in RHCs have access to most of the same services available to beneficiaries receiving care under traditional Medicare Part B. A chart outlining the preventive services RHC payment policy is attached. For more information on payment and claims processing, visit the RHC Center page of the CMS website.
