CMS Touts Prescription Drug Savings

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released data showing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has saved seniors and people with disabilities more than $3.9 billion since the law was enacted. CMS also reports that more than 1 million Medicare patients who hit the Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage gap, known as the “donut hole,” saved an average of $629 each in the first half of 2012. More information regarding ACA’s prescription drug benefits for Medicare patients is available at www.healthcare.gov/law/features/65-older/drug-discounts/index.html.
