CMS Region IX Administrator to Speak at Post-Acute Care Conference
Still time to register for event, Jan. 31 – Feb. 1

CHA’s Center for Post-Acute Care annual conference, Focused Care — Patients at the Center, will be held Jan. 31 – Feb.1 at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach. If you haven’t registered yet, it’s not too late to participate. Attendees will hear an important update from David Sayen, Region IX administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). He will discuss Region IX activities, policy development and the role of the regional office in implementing CMS policy.

Additional conference topics include a review of CMS’ final rule on the Therapy Functional Reporting System. The new rule, released Nov. 16, 2012, will significantly impact therapy services providers by imposing new claims and documentation processes. Therapy caps and issues surrounding manual medical review will also be reviewed in the same session. Additional topics include post-acute care strategic planning, model hospital transition programs, and best practices to reduce readmissions. Big picture policy issues also will be covered, including the influence of policy on practice of care, and how quality indicators research may impact providers. State and federal leaders will also share perspectives on policy and key programs, including the much-debated Coordinated Care Initiative.
