For CFOs, finance staff

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has posted its Three Year Medicare Geographic Classification Review Board (MGCRB) Reclassification Data for the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2022 applications for MGCRB reclassification.

Typically, CMS posts this information concurrently with the inpatient prospective payment system final (IPPS) rule; however, CMS announced it will delay publication of the IPPS final rule due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. To provide hospitals sufficient time before the Sept. 1, 2020, deadline for the FFY 2022 MGCRB applications, CMS is providing this data prior to issuance of the FFY 2021 final rule. A complete list of geographic reclassification timelines is available on the CMS Wage Index home page.
