CMS to Host National Provider Call on Clinical Lab Payment Proposed Rule

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will host a national provider call on the proposed rule updating the Medicare payment system for clinical diagnostic laboratory tests, as required by the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014. Scheduled for Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. – noon (PT), the call will provide an overview of the proposed rule, which would require “applicable laboratories” to report private payer rate and volume data on which the new clinical lab fee schedule (CLFS) will be based. While most hospital-based laboratories would be exempt from reporting, the new market rate established by the data will apply to any lab test paid under the CLFS beginning Jan. 1, 2017. To participate on the national provider call, register on the MLN Connects website.
