The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is further extending the deadline to submit Q3 2020 Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) data and electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) for the Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program, PPS-Exempt Cancer Hospital Quality Reporting (PCHQR) Program, and Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program.

The deadline for HCAHPS data submission under the IQR and PCHQR programs has been extended to March 17, originally due Jan. 6. The deadline to submit eCQMs under the IQR and Medicare Promoting Interoperability programs has been extended to April 1, originally due March 1.

Hospitals that are unable to submit data or meet requirements due to an extraordinary circumstance may request an extraordinary circumstances exception (ECE). The ECE forms are available on the programs’ pages. Questions can be directed to the outreach and education support team on the QualityNet question and answer site or by calling (844) 472-4477.

Hospitals and critical access hospitals participating in the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program may request an exemption from the Medicare downward payment adjustment if they can show that compliance with the requirement for being a meaningful electronic health record user would result in a significant hardship. More information is available on the CMS website. Contact the QualityNet Help Desk for assistance at qnetsupport@hcqis.org or (866) 288-8912.
