CMS to Conduct Hospital Engagement Network Survey

Beginning next week, 2,700 hospitals will be randomly surveyed as part of the Partnership for Patient’s Hospital Engagement Network. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has contracted with Mathematica and Health Services Advisory Group to conduct the survey to evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative. This national, web-based survey will include hospitals participating in the Hospital Engagement Network as well as hospitals not engaged in the initiative. The survey will provide key information for both the impact and formative evaluations.

The intent is to conduct the survey twice — once now and once in two years. The survey, Hospital Survey on Prevention of Adverse Events and Reduction of Readmissions (QI Director Survey), is expected to take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Survey results will be available to participating hospitals, as well as all hospitals participating in the Hospital Engagement Network. For more information, see attached CMS letter regarding the survey.
