CMS Announces Contractors to Support Inpatient Psychiatric Facility and Cancer Hospital Quality Reporting Programs

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced it will contract with Telligen to provide outreach and education support to inpatient psychiatric facilities (IPFs) participating in the new IPF quality reporting program, which will affect payments for fiscal year 2014. IPFs must collect data on six hospital-based inpatient psychiatric service quality measures for patients admitted on or after Oct. 1, 2012, to avoid a 2 percent payment penalty beginning Oct. 1, 2013. In addition, CMS has contracted with Telligen and the American College of Surgeons to assist hospitals participating in the new prospective payment system- (PPS) exempt cancer hospital reporting program.  PPS-exempt cancer hospitals will begin collecting data on five quality measures Jan. 1, 2013.
