CHCF Issues Reports on Regional Markets

Two reports released this week by the California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) reflect concern that the physician supply in California is inadequate to meet the expanded demand from implementation of federal and state health care reforms. CHCF is focusing on six markets — Fresno, Los Angeles, Riverside/San Bernardino, Sacramento, San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area — each reflecting a range of economic, demographic, health care delivery and financing conditions in California. Researchers interviewed executives from hospitals, physician organizations, community clinics, programs for low-income people and health plans. The two reports issued this week are attached below.
