CHBE Board Approves Stakeholder Consultation Plan

At its Sept. 18 meeting, the California Health Benefit Exchange (CHBE) Board discussed plans for stakeholder consultation, naming and branding activities, and the Qualified Health Plan (QHP) solicitation. Board members also engaged in a lengthy, technical discussion about how the Service Center and CHBE will handle screening and referral for those potentially eligible for Medi-Cal. In closed session, the CHBE Board approved entering into a contract with the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH) to use the eValue8 tool as part of the QHP solicitation. The board also approved an affiliate relationship with PBGH and for PBGH to support a quality rating system. In addition, the board approved staff recommendations regarding a Stakeholder Consultation Plan that includes establishing three advisory groups, each with 12 to 15 members who would be vetted by a subcommittee of the board.  The groups will meet at least quarterly, beginning in January 2013. Information about previous and future board meetings is available at www.hbex.ca.gov.
