CHA’s Human Resources Conference to Offer Strategies for Addressing Unconscious Bias

CHA’s Human Resources Conference: Bringing Order to Chaos, March 23-24 in Pasadena, will feature a session on addressing unconscious bias in the workplace, including how it affects patient care and professional relationships. Beginning this year, a single conference replaces CHA’s former employee safety/workers’ compensation seminar and its labor and employment seminar, combining both into a one-and-a-half-day event. 

Unconscious bias — the automatic and unintentional stereotypes or judgments that individuals may assign to others — can lead to false assumptions and negative outcomes in the workplace. At the conference, attendees will learn from expert speakers how general principles of unconscious bias apply in the health care workplace.

The conference’s first day will feature practical and insightful presentations on topics ranging from workers’ compensation best practices to employee safety and reasonable accommodation. On the second day, faculty will discuss case law developments and recommendations, with time devoted to new laws on independent contractors, arbitration, and nurse-to-patient staffing ratios.

This annual conference is geared toward human resources and leaders and staff; employee safety and workers’ compensation directors and managers; nursing directors; risk and compliance leaders; and in-house counsel.
