CHA’s Health Policy Legislative Day Early Registration Deadline Is Tomorrow

Planning is ramping up for CHA’s Health Policy Legislative Day, set for March 15-16 in Sacramento. Activity is also picking up at the State Capitol as lawmakers work to introduce new bills by the Feb. 19 deadline. CHA is currently reviewing more than 100 pieces of legislation for position and will continue to screen new bills as they are introduced. Hospital leaders and government relations executives are urged to attend CHA’s annual statewide advocacy program to share with legislators the effects that proposed legislation would have on California hospitals.

The education program on Wednesday, March 16, will feature keynote Hugh Hewitt, a nationally syndicated broadcast journalist and political commentator covering the presidential campaigns. Hewitt has participated as a panelist in two presidential debates and conducted numerous interviews with this year’s presidential candidates. He will share his perspectives on the current political landscape and his predictions for the future. In addition, CHA President/CEO C. Duane Dauner will provide an update on California’s political climate, as well as CHA’s advocacy priorities and strategies.

Hospital executives are strongly encouraged to register by the Feb. 19 early registration deadline to help facilitate the legislative appointment process. The goal of the program is to meet with all 120 senators and assemblymembers, and some districts do not yet have a hospital representative registered to attend.

The Hyatt Regency is the host hotel for the program. For overnight accommodations, reservations can be made online or by calling (800) 421-1442. Be sure to mention the California Hospital Association to receive the discounted rate of $229 single/double occupancy. Reservations should be made this week as discounted rooms are expected to sell out.
