CHA Webinar on Thursday Will Address Discharge Planning for Homeless Patients
Learn about new requirements effective Jan. 1

CHA will host a webinar Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon to discuss new legal requirements hospitals must follow when discharging homeless patients.

Effective Jan. 1, 2019, California hospitals must meet numerous conditions before discharging a homeless patient. Under SB 1152 (Chapter 981, Statutes of 2018), hospitals must add a homeless patient discharge planning policy to their current discharge planning policy. Among other provisions, the new law requires hospitals to prepare the homeless patients for return to the community by connecting them with available community resources, treatment, shelter and other supportive services.

This webinar will help hospitals recognize whether their staff need additional training to ensure they are clear on the law’s requirements, and will share best practices for establishing and maintaining connections with community resources.
