CHA Releases Toolkit to Reduce Ambulance Patient Offload Delays

CHA’s EMS/Trauma Committee and the California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) have released a toolkit to support hospitals experiencing ambulance patient offload delays. CHA, EMSA and numerous partners collaborated to develop the toolkit to assist local jurisdictions in reducing delays and improving patient care. A survey of hospitals and local EMSAs was used to examine ambulance delays, and how they are mitigated across the emergency department patient throughput process. The toolkit covers legal issues, regulations and reporting metrics, and provides a comprehensive step-by-step quality improvement framework. For more information or to order, visit
