CHA Publishes Issue Papers on Key Legislative Priorities

Each year, CHA publishes issue papers for its annual Health Policy Legislative Day. During the event, hospital leaders advocate on behalf of California hospitals by meeting face-to-face with lawmakers at the state Capitol. For this year’s meetings, held March 20-21, CHA released issue papers on key topics, including the California Department of Public Health’s Centralized Applications Unit application process; transporting patients who meet specific criteria to alternate destination sites for the care they need; nurse hiring discrimination; nurse-to-patient ratios; homeless patient discharge; 340B Drug Discount Program changes and funding reductions in the proposed 2018-19 state budget; and taxation proposals.

Each paper includes a brief analysis of the issue and hospitals’ position. For additional information on a topic, contact the lead issue manager listed. For the most current information on pending legislation of importance to California hospitals, see CHA’s Legislative Update.
