CHA Public Advocacy Program Highlights Patient Safety
Positioning Hospitals, Building Public Support

California’s community hospitals are making great strides toward improving patient safety and quality outcomes. Last month, CHA’s Public Advocacy Program launched its new patient safety campaign — Caring is our Calling — to highlight the advancements that hospitals are making. The campaign features issue briefs and case studies in a number of clinical areas, including reducing infections, improving medication safety and advancing surgical safety. The program’s newly redesigned CaringisourCalling.org website is the cornerstone of the campaign. CHA encourages all member hospitals to support this important public education campaign by cross-linking websites and driving more visibility for hospitals’ patient safety efforts.

In 2012, the Public Advocacy Program is dedicated to educating and attracting at least 3,000 new hospital supporters from communities throughout California. An important way to achieve this goal is by cross-linking individual hospital and health system websites with the CaringisourCalling.org public advocacy website. By cross-linking, hospitals are helping to showcase their commitment to patient safety and expand the awareness of positive hospital case studies.
