CHA Members Take Hospital Message to Washington, D.C.

Hospital executives representing a wide range of CHA members wrapped up their meetings on Capitol Hill May 1, where they met with federal lawmakers and their staff to ensure the voice of hospitals is heard in the national effort to transform health care delivery and protect Medicare and Medicaid payments to hospitals.

Dozens of CHA members – representing large health systems, small rural hospitals and the full spectrum of providers – attended meetings in 40 congressional offices as part of the annual California Congressional Action Program.

“It was important that hospital representatives came to the nation’s capital to describe the progress being made by hospitals in delivery system reforms, quality improvement and patient safety.  Also, it was a great opportunity to let policy makers know the negative impact further Medicare or Medicaid payment cuts will have on access to care,” said CHA President/CEO C. Duane Dauner.
