CHA Member Wins National Award for Volunteer Program

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has honored four volunteer programs, including one in California, with its Hospital Awards for Volunteer Excellence. The award highlights the extraordinary efforts of volunteers and volunteer programs, as well as the positive impact their contributions have on their patients and communities. Sutter Davis Hospital/Sutter Health won this year’s community service program award for its doula volunteer program, due in part to its robust community outreach to educate the public about doulas’ impact on patient care. Volunteer doulas attend to 23 percent of the hospital’s 1,500 births annually by providing hands-on physical and psychological support during birth.
