CHA Member Appointed as New MHSOAC Commissioner

CHA member John Boyd, chief administrative officer of regional behavioral health and continuing care at Sutter Health’s Sacramento Sierra Region, has been appointed by Gov. Brown to serve on the state’s Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC). Created in 2004 by the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), MHSOAC and its commissioners are responsible for overseeing the implementation of the MHSA, as well as developing strategies to overcome stigma and advising the Governor and the Legislature on mental health policy.

Boyd also currently serves as a member of the advisory board for CHA’s Center for Behavioral Health. His professional experience includes positions as assistant administrator at the Kaiser Permanente Sacramento Medical Center; multiple positions at Shriners Hospitals for Children, including western region director of development; and planning and design commissioner from 2004 to 2008 for the City of Sacramento.
