CHA Hospital Preparedness Program Grant Ends June 30

On June 30, the grant for CHA’s Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) will end. The state has required that future grants be awarded on a bid basis, and no request for proposals has been issued. Although the grant-funded program is ending, CHA will continue to support the position of vice president, disaster preparedness and will provide advocacy and representation on disaster preparedness issues. CHA will also continue to coordinate the annual disaster planning conference, which will be held Sept. 22-24 this year in Sacramento.

Some of the HPP grant program’s accomplishments during its nine years of work include establishing the annual disaster planning conference; creating the CHA emergency preparedness website; developing a variety of planning resources and tools; conducting more than 400 classes, drills and exercises; providing hospital emergency management advocacy and representation to state, federal and local agencies; and more.
