CHA Encourages Hospitals to Preview Hospital Compare Data on QualityNet
HCAHPS data for July-September 2014 also due tomorrow

CHA encourages hospitals to preview their Hospital Compare reports on QualityNet, available until Jan. 29. The reports include the new five-star quality rating for the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) measures that will be publicly reported on Hospital Compare in April. For hospitals eligible to suppress data, the “Request for Withholding Data from Public Reporting” form must be received by the Hospital Inpatient Value, Incentives, and Quality Reporting (VIQR) support contractor no later than close of business on the last day of the preview period — Jan. 29. For assistance accessing preview reports, contact the VIQR support contractor through the inpatient questions and answers tool at or by calling (844) 472-4477 or (866) 800-8765 weekdays from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. (PT).

Additionally, the deadline to submit HCAHPS data for patients discharged in July, August and September 2014 is tomorrow, Jan. 7. A successful submission to QualityNet is defined as a file that has been accepted by My QualityNet, as indicated on the data submission report. After uploading files, hospitals should receive an email confirmation within 24 hours with a batch number indicating the batch has been processed. To avoid a penalty, hospitals should allow for sufficient time to ensure the data has been received by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. If an email is not received, hospitals should contact the QualityNet Help Desk at or by telephone at (866) 288-8912.
