CHA Comments on Workers’ Compensation Proposed Regulations
DWC issues notices of public hearings and written comments

CHA has submitted comments on proposed regulations regarding Independent Bill Review (IBR) to the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC). The formal comment period is open until 5 p.m. on April 9. In its comment letter, CHA expresses concern with the woefully inadequate time frames for requesting an IBR, the narrow definition of a provider and the restrictive submission criteria. In addition, CHA urges DWC to provide for specific confidentiality measures related to the submission of managed care contracts. For more information, see the attached comment letter and proposed regulations, available at www.dir.ca.gov/DWC/DWCPropRegs/IBR/IBR_Regs.htm.

DWC has issued a notice of public hearing for the IBR regulations – to be held April 9 at 10 a.m. — as well as a public hearing on the independent medical review and qualified medical evaluation regulations on April 4 at 10 a.m. Both hearings will be held in the auditorium of the Elihu Harris Building, 1515 Clay Street in Oakland. Members of the public may also submit written comment on the regulations until 5 p.m. on the day of each hearing.
