CHA Comments on Modifying HIPAA Provisions to Improve Coordinated Care

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

CHA has submitted comments to the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in response to a request for information about modifying Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and security rules.

In the letter, CHA supports OCR’s goals of removing regulatory obstacles and decreasing administrative and regulatory burdens to facilitate efficient care coordination and promote value-based health care. CHA urges the department to move quickly to implement rulemaking and additional subregulatory guidance.

CHA looks forward to working with OCR to help identify requirements that are no longer relevant or have not met their intended goals.

CHA thanks members for their input, which helped inform our comments.
