CHA, Broad Coalition File New Version of Ballot Measure to Extend Income Taxes on Wealthy Californians
Will direct revenue to schools and Medi-Cal

CHA, along with a broad coalition including the Service Employees International Union California (SEIU State Council), the California Teachers Association  and the California Medical Association today filed a new version of an initiative with the California Attorney General that will temporarily extend the Proposition 30 income taxes on the wealthiest Californians.

The new initiative will protect funding for K-14 education, as well as other state activities. Approximately $1 billion will be available annually to hospitals in the form of new Medi-Cal funding, beginning Jan. 1, 2019, after the current Proposition 30 temporary income tax expires.

CHA has long believed that a single, broadly supported Proposition 30 extension initiative represents the best opportunity for hospitals to receive increased Medi-Cal funding.
