CHA Announces New Vice President, Legal Counsel

CHA is pleased to announce Jackie Garman as its new vice president, legal counsel. Garman will oversee and coordinate the association’s legal representation on litigation critical to the hospital industry and assist with the legal impact of legislation and regulations on hospitals. She will also assist in developing legislative and regulatory language, coordinate external counsel on litigation involving CHA and interact with member hospitals.

Garman most recently served as general counsel for Children’s Hospital & Research Center in Oakland from 2006-14. Her duties there included all aspects of legal and risk affairs, including providing legal and risk management advice for operations; acting as legal counselor/advisor to senior management and the board of directors; overseeing litigation; and directing the organization’s insurance program. Prior to joining Children’s Hospital, she was a partner at the San Francisco law firm of Hanson Bridgett, where she specialized in civil litigation with an emphasis on medical staff credentialing and peer review disputes. After a trip abroad, Garman will be available at her CHA desk beginning July 21.
