CHA Announces 2012 Award Winners

Daniel Gross, RN, DNSc, executive vice president, hospital operations, Sharp HealthCare, San Diego, has been awarded CHA’s highest honor, the Award of Merit. The award is presented for outstanding contributions to the California health care community over an extended period.The Ritz E. Heerman Memorial Award, presented for outstanding contributions to the improvement of patient care, was given to Gordon and Betty Moore, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. Gail Nickerson, director, clinic services, Adventist Health, Roseville, was given the Certificate of Distinction, which recognizes exemplary devotion to volunteerism on behalf of hospitals and health care. Life Membership, presented to individuals who have made significant service contributions to CHA upon retirement from active participation in health care administration, was given to Bryan Ballard, former CEO, Catalina Island Medical Center, Avalon. CHA’s Leadership in Governance and the Public Service Award will be announced in February.
