CHA and ‘We Care for California’ to Sponsor June 4 Rally at Capitol
Please join CHA and broad-based coalition June 4 to support AB 900 and SB 640

We Care for California (WCCA), a statewide coalition of health care leaders, is mobilizing the largest Sacramento gathering of health care providers, workers, first responders and payers in the history of California to show support for AB 900 and SB 640. The June 4 rally — 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the state Capitol — is a crucial piece of a larger campaign.

We Care for California (WCCA), a statewide coalition of health care leaders, is mobilizing the largest Sacramento gathering of health care providers, workers, first responders and payers in the history of California to show support for AB 900 and SB 640. The June 4 rally — 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the state Capitol — is a crucial piece of a larger campaign launched by WCCA to ensure the passage of these two bills that would eliminate the state’s ability to prospectively implement a 10 percent Medi-Cal rate cut that was enacted in 2011 through AB 97.

The cut affects all Medi-Cal providers but imposes the most draconian damage on hospital distinct-part skilled-nursing facilities (DP/SNFs) with 25-30 percent cuts. The two bills also prevent the state from clawing back the rates paid since June 1, 2011 — impacting DP/SNFs by hundreds of millions of dollars. CHA is a member of the WCCA coalition and urges hospital employees, trustees, volunteers and medical staff members, as well as community representatives, to attend the event, which includes transportation to Sacramento from various locations across the state. Hospitals should designate a point person to help manage requests and activities related to this important rally. CHA also encourages hospitals to provide scheduling flexibility for hospital workers who choose to attend the voluntary event. Interested attendees must register at www.wecareforca.org. Attached is a fact sheet about WCCA and the June 4 event, and the coalition’s vision statement. The June 4 rally complements CHA’s public advocacy campaign to enact AB 900.
