CDPH Releases Updated Guidelines for Ebola Screening
Active monitoring of travelers from Liberia stopped as of Sept. 3

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has released updated screening requirements for travelers returning from Liberia. Following reports of a new confirmed case on Ebola in Liberia July 2, CDPH reestablished active monitoring of travelers in an abundance of caution. As of Sept. 3, the 42-day period (two 21-day incubation periods) has passed in Liberia without any new cases. As a result, CDPH recommended stopping the active monitoring of travelers from Liberia as of Sept. 3. Recommendations for active monitoring of returning travelers from other Ebola-affected countries (Sierra Leone and Guinea) are unchanged. For more information, see the attached guidance.
