CDPH Notifies Health Facilities About Public Safety Power Shutoffs
Facilities should register with local power companies to receive outage alerts

In All Facilities Letter 18-48, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) shares information about public safety power shutoff outages, which are part of a public safety effort during extreme weather conditions.

The outages are considered an “unusual occurrence” that should be reported to CDPH’s Licensing and Certification Program; details about information to report and who to report to are included in the letter. CDPH also encourages facilities to register with local power companies to ensure they receive outage alerts.
