CDPH Implements Elective PCI Program

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has released the attached All Facilities Letter (AFL) with requirements for the Elective Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) program for hospitals that do not have cardiac surgery on-site. Hospitals must submit an application to CDPH demonstrating compliance with the recommendations of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the American College of Cardiology Foundation and the American Heart Association for performance of PCI without on-site cardiac surgery, as well as demonstrating other requirements in the AFL. This implementation is a result of CHA advocacy and support of SB 906, which was passed in 2014. Hospitals interested in participating in the Elective PCI program must submit a signed application to CDPH’s Centralized Applications Unit. CDPH will host a seminar on the application process May 29 in Sacramento. Questions about the AFL or the Elective PCI program should be directed to
