CDPH to Begin Beta Testing New Hospital Licensing Survey Process

This spring, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Center for Health Care Quality Licensing and Certification Program (L&C) will begin beta testing a new general acute care hospital comprehensive licensing survey process. The new process will evaluate hospital compliance with all of the state’s statutory and regulatory licensure requirements, including those that have more recently been separately evaluated through the Medication Error Reduction Plan and Patient Safety Licensing Surveys. The goal of the beta testing phase is to ensure that the final process will produce consistent, fair and useful information for both facilities and consumers before implementation statewide. Prior to statewide rollout, L&C will provide details about the new survey process on its website and through an All Facilities Letter. Questions can be directed to CDPH’s Ley Arquisola at
