CDC’s Report of State HAI Rates to be Released This Week

This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) will release updated public reports on health care-associated infections (HAIs) reported by acute care hospitals in 2013, including central line-associated bloodstream infections, surgical site infections (colon and hysterectomy), methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections and Clostridium difficile infections.

The CDC report will compare state rates to the national average and will show progress since the inception of reporting individual HAIs. The reports cover the time frame of Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2013, and are based on data submitted by acute care hospitals throughout California to NHSN.
