California Workforce Investment Board to Host Regional Health Workforce Forums
Hospitals Encouraged to Attend and Weigh In on Health Workforce Issues

Last fall, the California Workforce Investment Board (CWIB) was awarded a grant from the Health Resource Services Administration (HRSA) for statewide health workforce planning. This funding was made possible as a result of the Affordable Care Act.

As part of the work being funded by the planning grant, CWIB, in partnership with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, is hosting nine regional health workforce forums during the months of February and March. The purpose of the regional forums is to provide an opportunity for regional health leaders to inform the state about how it can assist with strategies to educate and train a health workforce to meet the demands of the health sector. The information gathered will be used to inform California’s proposal for additional funding that will enable regional partners, including hospitals, to implement health workforce development strategies. This funding announcement is expected to be made by HRSA later this spring.
