California Hospital Leaders Travel to Washington to Tell Congress to Protect Hospital Payments

Hospital leaders from all over California traveled to Washington, D.C., to send a message to Congress that hospitals cannot withstand further cuts. Hospital leaders met with more than half of the entire California congressional delegation, including meetings with House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, and staff for Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Sens. Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein.

The group traveled to Washington as part of the American Hospital Association’s Advocacy Day, which brought hospital leaders from all over the country to Capitol Hill to deliver a unified response regarding further cuts to hospital payments as part of a deficit-reduction package. Members of Congress were reminded that protecting Medicare and Medicaid funding means protecting access to critical health care and jobs across the state.
