California Health Interview Survey Updates Released

The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research has released an update to the AskCHIS Neighborhood Edition, including 2013-14 estimates from the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), new non-CHIS data, and changes that make finding local health information easier and faster. The AskCHIS Neighborhood Edition — which provides health information for California’s ZIP codes, cities, counties and legislative districts — includes non-CHIS measures related to air quality and pollution from the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, as well as income inequality data from the American Community Survey. The tool allows users to customize and compare small geographic areas, as well as to map and chart their results. It covers a wide range of health topics, including health insurance, chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes, health behaviors such as smoking and physical activity, children’s health, access to care, mental health and much more.

A companion web tool, AskCHIS, allows users to find health data at the county, region and state levels.
