Cal-HOSA Launches Statewide Health and Wellness Campaign

The California Health Occupations Students of America (Cal-HOSA) and the California Department of Education, in coordination with CHA, have launched HOSA Healthy Habits, a statewide initiative designed to encourage HOSA students and health professionals to work together to increase healthy choices. The goal of HOSA Healthy Habits is to help students develop healthy behaviors early on so this lifestyle transcends into their years working as health professionals, providing care, and promoting health and wellness to patients.

By engaging industry partners with various areas of expertise, such as diet and nutrition or physical therapy, students will increase their knowledge about health, fitness and wellness, and gain exposure to the wide range of career opportunities within health care. In addition, HOSA students will form teams with health care professionals in their communities to take on a healthy habits challenge, such as taking 10,000 steps per day, eliminating fast food from their diet and getting adequate sleep each night.

Cal-HOSA is a national career and technical student leadership organization serving secondary and post-secondary health science and career students. Health care professionals interested in joining Cal-HOSA students in HOSA Healthy Habits should contact Cathy Martin.
