BRN Launches Project Green
Eliminates paper renewal notification, plastic pocket RN cards

The California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) has launched “The Green Project,” a new program aimed at increasing sustainable practices. Starting in September, the BRN will no longer issue pocket cards upon initial licensure or renewal of a registered nurse (RN) license and advanced practice certificates. In addition, BRN will eliminate its multi-page paper renewal notice, instead replacing it with a one-page notification that licensees should renew via the online BreEZe system. Licensees will receive one combined notice for their RN license and all advanced practice certificate renewals; the new notice will not include a return renewal coupon or return envelope. More information is available at www.rn.ca.gov/green.shtml.
