For CEOs, CMOs, CNOs

A CHA-supported bill that would allow nurse practitioners (NPs) to practice to the full extent of their education and training – AB 890 (Wood, D-Santa Rosa) – passed the Assembly Committee on Business and Professions today.

In light of the current and projected physician shortage, especially in underserved communities, CHA believes that allowing highly trained, certified professional NPs to provide quality primary care is a reasonable next step. According to the latest California Workforce Commission Report, allowing NPs to practice to their full expertise not only improves access to health care, but also reduces costs significantly.
