Annual Labor and Employment Law Seminars Begin Nov. 5

CHA’s Labor and Employment Law Seminar is scheduled for Nov. 5 in Glendale and Nov. 13 in Sacramento. This annual event brings together hospital human resources professionals to hear analyses of court rulings, new laws and regulations in terms that are understandable and apply to hospital environments. This year’s highlights include a review of the recently finalized Cal/OSHA’s safe patient handling regulation; implications of recently overturned National Labor Relations Board decisions; and a summary of CHA’s agreement with SEIU-UHW. Managing leaves of absence, the California Family Rights Act and Cal/OSHA’s proposed workplace violence regulations will also be discussed, with morning sessions devoted to wage and hour, wrongful discharge and employment discrimination issues.
