Active Shooter Planning Document Updated for Health Care Setting

This year’s update of the Active Shooter Planning and Response document, developed by the Healthcare & Public Health Sector Coordinating Council, includes a new pocket tool for health care active shooter scenarios as well as advice on how to survive such a scenario. Updated annually since its initial release in 2013, the document addresses providing care in areas where a potential threat exists, law enforcement tactics, unified command and psychological support. It also identifies the four phases of emergency management, along with how to prevent and mitigate an active shooter situation.
