CA COVID Notify: New App Speeds Exposure Notification

On Dec. 7 Governor Newsom announced a new voluntary program that will help rapidly control COVID-19 outbreaks. CA COVID Notify is an app-based program designed to quickly alert individuals when a COVID-19 exposure may have occurred. The high tech, privacy-preserving solution automates the contact tracing work for individuals, without sharing personal data or compromising privacy.

Download free app — let it do the work

CA COVID Notify will be available for download Dec. 10. Installing the app right away is key to aid in quick detection later. The app uses a smartphone’s capabilities to tell people using the app when they have come into sustained contact with another app user who tested positive for the virus.

How can hospitals help?
UC San Diego, which launched the pilot program in September, found that app downloads increased when health systems and providers encouraged their patients to participate in the voluntary notification program. And, the more people that use the app, the more effective the app can be to help us to contain the virus.

Join this webinar to understand how the application works and what hospitals can do to encourage staff and patients to download the app.
