California Health Foundation & Trust
California Health Foundation & Trust (CHFT) is a 501(c) (3) public benefit charity established in 1956 to sponsor and support health care, including access to health care, research and education. Affiliated with CHA, CHFT has a number of grant programs, including the California Telemedicine and e-Health Center (CTEC) and the Critical Access Hospital Technical Assistance Program, which assists hospitals certified as Critical Access Hospitals under the Medicare Rural Flexibility Program and the California Critical Access Hospital Network.
Walker-Sullivan Fellowship
The permanently-restricted Walker-Sullivan Fellowship provides interest income, which is awarded to health care executives to study health care delivery systems in other countries and throughout the United States. Recent recipients are listed below with reports they prepared after completing their studies to further health care education.
- Steven Packer, MD, President/CEO, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, was the 2009 awardee. See his July 2010 report - Israeli Lessons in Mass Casualty Incident Response.
- Barry Arbuckle, PhD, President/CEO, MemorialCare Medical Centers, was the 2007 awardee. He completed his study in 2009, after traveling to the South Pacific. See his July 2010 Walker-Sullivan Fellowship report.
- Martha Marsh, President/CEO of Stanford Hospital and Clinics - Stanford University Medical Center, was the 2003 Walker-Sullivan Fellowship recipient and visited hospitals in England. See her July 2005 report.
- Tom Priselac, President/CEO of Cedars-Sinai, who was awarded the fellowship in 2001, delayed his trip until 2007. See his July 2007 report.
