County Medical Services Program
December 10, 2008
The County Medical Services Program (CMSP) provides health coverage for low-income, indigent adults in 34 primarily rural California counties. The CMSP Governing Board, established by California law in 1995, is charged with overall program and fiscal responsibility for CMSP. Blue Cross Life & Health has administrative responsibility for CMSP.
CHA continues to advocate, in collaboration with other stakeholder organizations, for adequate reimbursement; reduction of the administrative burden on hospitals; and the establishment of an adequate network of providers, particularly specialists, to ensure access to and continuity of care for CMSP patients.
