Overview

Cost Reporting

Providers participating in the Medicare program are required to annually submit information to be reimbursed for costs relating to health care services rendered to Medicare beneficiaries. When a provider fails to file a timely cost report, all interim payments since the beginning of the cost reporting period can be deemed overpayments.

CHA works with regulatory agencies to ensure that member hospitals are informed about changes to the Medicare cost reporting process. Further, through CHA’s DataSuite, we provide hospital-specific models for use in analyzing wage area reimbursement and reclassification. Through annual reimbursement seminars, CHA provides members with education and training on Medicare reimbursement and cost reporting issues.
