Overview
CHA Workforce Commitee
February 15, 2010
The mission of CHA's Workforce Committee is to lead a coordinated, statewide effort to develop and implement long-term, strategic solutions that address the need for specific allied health professionals in California.
Comprised of CHA hospital and health system members, the committe includes a number of workgroups:
- Allied Healthcare Workforce Advisory Council - In order to ensure stakeholder input, an Allied Health Care Workforce Advisory Council was created. The workforce committee works closely with the advisory council as it evaluates and makes recommendations. The council is comprised of various stakeholders, including representatives from the Labor and Workforce Development Agency, the University of California, California State University, California Community Colleges, University of California, San Francisco, Center for the Health Professions, Connecting the Dots Initiative, Campaign for College Opportunity, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, among others.
- Service Area and Funding Workgroups - Four workgroups serve as the base of the committee’s organizational structure, three of which focus on shortages in specific professional services. These service areas include imaging, pharmacy and laboratory services. These professions were selected as a result of a member survey, review of recent literature and input from the committee and Allied Healthcare Workforce Advisory Council. A fourth workgroup has been established that will focus efforts on sustainable funding solutions.
